AI Policy

Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Jurnal Tecnoscienza is committed to maintaining academic integrity, transparency, and scientific quality. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based tools and AI-assisted technologies in the manuscript preparation and peer-review process is subject to clear ethical guidelines. This policy establishes requirements for authors, reviewers, and editors regarding the appropriate use, transparency, and ethical implications of AI in the journal's publication process.

Guidelines on AI Use for Authors

  1. AI Is Not an Author

AI tools, large language model (LLM)-based software, and automated content generators do not qualify as authors or co-authors of manuscripts published in Jurnal Tecnoscienza.

  2. Human Authors Bear Full Responsibility

Authors bear full responsibility for the validity, accuracy, originality, and integrity of the entire manuscript, including any content generated or assisted by AI tools.

  3. Permitted Uses of AI

AI tools may be used to support the following activities, provided that authors verify the accuracy and appropriateness of the results:

    • Language and Grammar Refinement: Correcting grammar, spelling, writing style, sentence structure, and translating text for language improvement.
    • Technical Assistance and Analysis: Assisting with programming code, organizing raw data, or creating data visualizations, provided that the accuracy of the code, analysis, and results is independently verified.
    • Literature Search: Supporting the initial identification of relevant literature. Authors must read and verify the original sources directly before citing them in the manuscript.
  4. Prohibited Uses of AI

The following uses of AI are prohibited:

    • Unverified Generation of Main Content and Key Arguments: Using AI to generate substantial scientific arguments, analyses, or interpretations of research findings without meaningful intellectual contribution, critical evaluation, and verification by the authors.
    • Data and Citation Fabrication: Using AI to generate false data, fictitious experimental results, fabricated references, or nonexistent citations. Such practices constitute serious research misconduct.
  5. Disclosure Requirements

If AI tools are used in manuscript preparation beyond basic spelling and grammar correction, authors must disclose their use in the manuscript.

The disclosure should be included in the Acknowledgments or Methods section, as appropriate, and specify:

    • The name of the AI tool, its version, and its developer, where available.
    • The parts of the manuscript or research process in which the tool was used.
    • The purpose and nature of the AI-assisted activity.

Example of an AI Disclosure Statement:

During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [AI Tool Name and Version] to [describe the purpose, such as refining sentence structure or translating text from one language to another]. The author(s) reviewed and edited the AI-assisted content and assume full responsibility for the content of the publication.

Guidelines on AI Use for Reviewers and Editors

  1. Manuscript Confidentiality

Reviewers and editors must not upload or enter manuscripts under review, or any portions thereof, into publicly accessible AI tools without appropriate authorization. Such actions may compromise manuscript confidentiality, unpublished research, and the authors' intellectual property.

  2. Independent Assessment

Editorial decisions and peer-review evaluations must be based on objective, independent professional judgment. AI-generated assessments must not replace the critical evaluation, expertise, and decision-making of reviewers and editors.

Policy Violations

If a violation of this policy is identified before or after publication, including undisclosed AI use where disclosure is required, data fabrication, fabricated citations, or AI-assisted plagiarism, Jurnal Tecnoscienza reserves the right to take appropriate action in accordance with its editorial policies and publication ethics guidelines. Such actions may include:

  1. Rejecting the submitted manuscript.
  2. Retracting a published article when justified by the findings and applicable editorial procedures.
  3. Restricting or prohibiting future manuscript submissions by the author, where warranted and in accordance with the journal's policies.

Jurnal Tecnoscienza expects all authors, reviewers, and editors to use AI tools responsibly and transparently while upholding academic integrity, research ethics, and the quality of scholarly publications.
