Publication Ethics

Our publication ethics are based on the COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

1. Publication Ethics and Responsibilities

Publication in Jurnal Tecnoscienza involves a peer-review process conducted by qualified reviewers with expertise relevant to the journal's focus and scope. The journal is published in print and online and is issued twice a year, in April and October.

The manuscripts considered for publication are expected to support and uphold the principles of the scientific method. Therefore, it is essential to establish clear standards of ethical behavior for all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, publishers, and readers.

2. Publication Decisions

The editor of Jurnal Tecnoscienza is responsible for deciding which manuscripts submitted to the journal should be published. Decisions must be based on the validity, originality, scientific quality, and significance of the research to researchers and readers.

Editors are guided by the journal's editorial policies and must comply with applicable legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors may consult other editors or peer reviewers when making publication decisions.

3. Fair Play

Editors evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual and scientific merit, without discrimination based on the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political or ideological views.

4. Confidentiality

The editor and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts. Information about a manuscript may only be disclosed to the corresponding author, peer reviewers, potential reviewers, authorized editorial advisers, and other parties when disclosure is necessary and authorized as part of the editorial process.

5. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts must not be used in an editor's own research without the author's explicit written consent. Editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and refrain from handling manuscripts when such conflicts could compromise their impartiality.

Reviewers' Responsibilities

6. Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer reviewers assist editors in making informed editorial decisions. Through constructive feedback and communication facilitated by the editor, reviewers also help authors improve the quality, clarity, and scientific rigor of their manuscripts.

7. Review Process and Duration

Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to evaluate a manuscript or is unable to complete the review within the required timeframe must notify the editor promptly and withdraw from the review process.

The expected time allocated for reviewing a manuscript is approximately three to four weeks, subject to the journal's editorial schedule and the reviewer's availability.

8. Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not share, reproduce, or discuss the manuscripts with others unless authorized by the editor.

9. Objectivity Standards

Reviews must be conducted objectively and professionally. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their opinions clearly and support their assessments with relevant arguments and evidence.

10. Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors. Any statement concerning previously reported observations, derivations, or arguments must be supported by appropriate references.

Reviewers should also inform the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published works of which they are aware.

11. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Information and ideas obtained through peer review must remain confidential and must not be used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts when conflicts of interest arise from competition, collaboration, personal relationships, or other professional connections with any author, institution, or organization associated with the manuscript.

Authors' Responsibilities

12. Reporting Standards

Authors of original research articles must present an accurate account of the research conducted and an objective discussion of its significance. Research data must be reported accurately, and manuscripts must contain sufficient detail and references to allow other researchers to understand and, where appropriate, replicate the work.

Intentionally false, misleading, or inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

13. Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original works. Any use of the ideas, words, data, or findings of others must be appropriately acknowledged and cited.

Jurnal Tecnoscienza uses Turnitin as a tool to check manuscript originality and detect potential plagiarism. The journal sets a maximum similarity index of 25% for submitted manuscripts. A similarity report is used as an assessment tool and does not, by itself, determine whether plagiarism has occurred.

14. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors must not submit or publish manuscripts presenting substantially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals is considered unethical publishing behavior and is not permitted.

15. Acknowledgment of Sources

Authors must give proper credit to the work of others. All publications, data, ideas, and other sources that have significantly influenced the research must be appropriately cited in the manuscript.

16. Authorship and Contributions

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported research. All individuals who meet the authorship criteria should be listed as co-authors.

Individuals who have contributed to specific aspects of the research but do not meet the authorship criteria should be appropriately acknowledged.

The corresponding or submitting author is responsible for ensuring that all eligible contributors are properly identified, that no ineligible individuals are listed as authors, and that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission for publication.

17. Disclosure of Funding and Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose all sources of financial support for the research and any relevant conflicts of interest that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research results or their interpretation.

All funding sources and relevant financial or non-financial relationships must be transparently reported in the manuscript.

18. Fundamental Errors in Published Work

If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, the author must promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article, as appropriate.

Failure to disclose a known significant error or deliberate concealment of inaccurate information may constitute a breach of publication ethics and may result in further editorial action.

Publication Statement and Ethical Agreement

As part of the journal's publication ethics requirements, authors are required to complete and submit a Publication Statement, which includes a Statement of Ethics and an Authorship Agreement.

Failure to complete and return the required Publication Statement may result in editorial sanctions, including the withdrawal or retraction of a published manuscript, where justified by the circumstances and in accordance with the journal's policies.

Authors can access the Ethics Statement form through the link provided by the journal.
