AI Policy
The Ekuivalensi Journal is committed to maintaining academic integrity, transparency, and scientific quality. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based tools and AI-assisted technologies in the manuscript writing and review process is strictly regulated. This policy aims to provide clear guidelines for authors, reviewers, and editors regarding the limitations, transparency, and ethics of AI use in the publication process of our journal.
- Guidelines on AI Use for Authors
- AI Is Not an Author: AI tools, LLM-based software, or automated content generators do not qualify as authors or co-authors.
- Human Authors Bear Full Responsibility: Human authors bear full responsibility for the validity, accuracy, and integrity of the entire manuscript.
- Permitted Uses of AI:
- Language and Grammar Refinement: Correcting grammar, spelling, writing style, or translating text (proofreading).
- Technical Assistance/Analysis: Assisting with writing programming code, organizing raw data, or creating data visualizations (while still verifying their accuracy).
- Literature Search: Assisting in finding initial references (authors are still required to read and directly verify the original sources of these references).
- Prohibited Uses of AI:
- Creation of Main Content & Key Arguments: Generating key scientific arguments, substantial analyses, or interpretations of research findings entirely using AI without verification or in-depth intellectual contribution from the author.
- Data and Citation Fabrication: Using AI to create false data, fictitious experimental results, or generate fake citations/bibliographies (hallucinated citations). This violation is categorized as serious misconduct/plagiarism.
- Disclosure Requirement: If an author uses AI tools for manuscript writing (other than basic grammar correction), the author must include the following in the manuscript:
- Acknowledgment/Methods Section: The author must include a specific section explaining which AI tools were used (tool name, version, developer), which parts of the manuscript were assisted, and for what purpose.
- Example disclosure format: “During the writing of this manuscript, the author used [AI Tool Name, Version] to [refine sentence structure / translate text from language X to language Y]. The author has reviewed and edited the content and assumes full responsibility for the content of the publication.”
- Guidelines on AI Use for Reviewers and Editors
- Manuscript Confidentiality: Reviewers and editors are strictly prohibited from entering manuscripts or portions of manuscripts under review into public AI tools (such as the free version of ChatGPT), as this may compromise the confidentiality of the author’s intellectual property.
- Independent Assessment: Editorial and reviewer decisions must be based on objective, independent judgment, not automatically generated by AI.
- Policy Violations
If a violation of this AI policy (such as undisclosed AI use, data fabrication, or AI-based plagiarism) is discovered during the pre-publication or post-publication stages, the journal reserves the right to:
- Reject the manuscript outright.
- Retract a published article.
- Prohibit the author in question from publishing future works in the Ekuivalensi journal.
